Dick Ackerman, introduced today's speaker. Charlie Wilson: All about water.

Our speaker today is Charlie Wilson, who is the Executive Director of the Southern California Water Coalition.

Mr Wilson explained in great detail how for the last 150 years we have taken the rain and snow from the mountans, down the rivers, and created one of the most fertile food basins in the world, and the 5th largest economy n the world, but with the climate transitions, we must change. The distribution systems for our acquaducts are not sufficient to continue as we have to date. Politics have complicated our systems. Bonds have been approved, but continuing disagreements have complicated the use of the funds to complete the propoals.

With the California acquaduct completed, we have not been able to move past the progress of the 1980s. Mr. Wilson’s task is to bring together the diverse users across the state, and to compelte the delta projects. He touched on desalination and other sources of water; to summarize that the least expensive water is from traditional sources - conservation, recycling, and storage.
