"ODE TO ROTARY--A Year in Review"
by BOB SAVAGE
charcterized the 2005 Rotary accomplishments and highlights
of a dynamic year when Greg Franklin was hailed away to become
Superintendent of Glendale School District.
President Elect Bob had much to do --

"Rotary year 04-05 started off great
Franklin was president and I had a year to wait,
Everything was organized and going along fine,
I had lots to learn before the presidency was mine.

" When he asked me to be president, I could hardly open my mouth
I felt like the north end of a cow going south,
All the past presidents said they had done their due'
As President Elect we are turning it all over to you.

"The next Rotary meeting I was to step in,
The District Governor was there with my President's pin.
He asked me what programs I had planned for the year,
I said, " Don't even know what I am doing here.

"I got e-mails and phone calls, it was a deluge,
It got me renamed as the Rotary Scrooge.
The following week the Senior Party at Ebell was in line,
I figured everytthing was set and would go fine.

"The caterer was called to be at the Ebell, I thought,
But when I got there, the caterer was not.
The seniors were sitting at the tables so bare,
No plates, no food and no silverware.

"Serving the Irish coffee was a problem for the Elks,
They said, " We don't have the staff to serve it to you.
I suggested private stock could be served right here.
But the Elks licenses prohibited private whiskey, wine or beer

" January's programs, they came and went,
I managed the month without screwing an event.
Everyone thet charity event would be so bad,
But it turned out one of the best we've had.

"It was an honor and privileged to be your President this year,
The challenges and memories I'll always hold dear.
Now, let us join together in unanimous voice,
As we welcome in new President Joyce."

WALLY BARTELT presented sapphire lapel pins to eleven Paul Harris Foundation Members.
Past President SAVAGE recognized his Board leaders for their dedication and support.

RAY and MARY RUTH ASHCROFT presented Bob with the traditional "YEAR 2005 ROTARY MEMORY BOOK"

BILL MATHY followed with the traditional "TREE of ROTARY" to the outgoing President

RANDY MCFARLAND was named "ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR" an honor well deserved.
