PREZ J Richey fulfilled his first goal of his year as President of THE ROTARY CLUB OF FULLERTON by striking the bell at precisely 12:25. J used both hands on the gavel and thoroughly deafened those sitting at the nearest tables but he managed to get his point across.
Passed Prez Bob Sattler led the flag salute and Passed Prez Leroy led the singing with our second favorite song, “Vi-ve-le Rotary with the second verse of Vi-ve-le Richey.
Pastor Greg Hickman made an impressive entrance but he was exactly one minute late. X-Prez Leroy made due performed the invocation duties so smoothly nobody noticed Greg’s tardiness.
Randy McFarland introduced visitors that included Ari, Mr. Ma, Mr Ho, Mrs. Park, Mrs. Choi, Mrs. Shim, Mr. Jin, Mr. Kong, and Mr. Kim, all visiting artists from Korea; they were guests of Mr. Oates and Mr. Zoot.
Wilma Peloquin was a guest of Bill, and Terry Prado hosted Jael Tanti.
Prez J introduced special guests that included his business associate Norm Credit, and old friends Mr.and Mrs. Bob Smith, Rotarians from Newport Beach. Prez J also introduced his first lady of 40 years Rose Marie. J then introduced his brother, a visiting Rotarian and Past Prez of the Matttoon , Illinois Rotary Club Darrel Richey. Brother D and J exchanged club banners and D gave testimony to Rotary and how THE FULLERTON ROTARY CLUB exemplified the international positive effect of Rotary.
Mark McGee announced that his father-in-law and past Fullerton Rotarian Jerry Tollefson passed away recently. Bill Mathy announce that Dick Daybell is in St. Jude Hospital for pneumonia.

Pat Hartnett announced that July 31 is Rotary Polio Plus night at Angel Stadium.
July 16 is Fullerton Flyers night (see Rick Crane)
Leroy Fulton is coordinating the Fullerton Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast and is seeking sponsors.
Jim Williams thanked all those who contributed to the recent Demotion Night celebration for X-Prez Jeff Hutchison.
Joe Lins was Recognition Master today and he began by recognizing Andy Anderson for over 40 years of service to the Fullerton Rotary.
Joe also recognized Don Bankhead for his July 4th Birthday. Blake Smith for his birthday and Pat Hartnett for his 50th birthday. Vern Andrews wife Barbara celebrated a birthday last week as well as Robyn Mathy.
Prez J once more took the microphone and thanked the club members once again for electing him club President. He told of all the varied advice he received to insure a successful presidency. J was advised that he should try to be like Mike Oates, but he didn’t think he was funny enough. Or be like Ken Kaisch, but J’s nose isn’t red enough, J decided it would be easier to be like Tom Meyer and just look impressive and be well dressed and handsome. Just in case that won’t be enough J hedged his bets by introducing his board of directors that include Bob Hillhouse, Don Ludwig, Theresa Harvey, Bob Clark, Pat Hartnett, Jay Kramer, and of course Dan Kiernan, Vimal Seth and the irreplaceable Robert Jahncke.
Bob Hathaway introduced our Rotary Ambassador Scholar, U.S. Army Lt. Anthony Luopt. Anthony is a graduate of Esperanza High School and recently graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point.
Anthony received a $25000 scholarship to continue his studies in Philosophy at University of Scotland at St Andrews.
Anthony explained what a Rotary Scholar was and how he competed for it and how the Army will delay his deployment while he continues his studies.
