Zoot Velasco assumed duties as master of ceremonies for the day, indicating that President Ken was away on a secret mission with family. We wish Ken well. This “blast from the past”-themed Zoot Zoom revisited Past President Joe Arnold’s This Day in History, featuring a slew of oft-overlooked commemorations such as National Playdoh Day, Indoor Plant Week, and National Chicken Month. Greg Hickman regaled us all with his video-rendition of “Smile”, and Zoot strong-armed everyone to sing unmuted, a mistake this rotascribe may need therapy to repress. Miko Krisvoy led this week’s pledge of allegiance, followed by an invocation from this rotascribe that ironically invoked the disconnection of Zoot from his own Zoom meeting. Club News: 1) Dan Ouweleen provided an update on Coyote Hills’ reopening bfor lunch, and our return to an in-person option for meetings. 2) Theresa Harvey shared her September 17th Facebook Live event featuring Mayor Jennifer Fitzgerald—check it out on the North Orange County Chamber Facebook page. Fine Master: Finemaster Jeff Hutchinson fined Marilyn Richards ($10) for 10 years of marriage with Don, Raco ($10) for his 43rd anniversary, Sandra Hayes ($10) for her birthday, Terri Grassi ($10) for her birthday, Scott Scambray ($10) for his birthday. Rick Crane ($5) correctly named the 1957 structure built by LA City Council to cut his fine (Dodgers Stadium), while Jim Williams ($5) recruited Dan Ouweleen ($5) to let him know who holds the 1973 Buffalo Bills rushing record vs. the Patriots (OJ Simpson). Bill Mathy ($10) shared news of his 8th grandchild. Bailey Kline—Still Figuring it Out! Bailey Kline is the GigabitNow City Manager for Fullerton FiberCity, and joined our club in January 2020. Currently a Tustin resident, Bailey was raised in Yorba Linda. As an Esperanza High Aztec, she became captain of the cheer team, a yoga aficionado, and a nationally ranked rock climber. Fun Fact: She went to Fear Factor camp at age 10 and ate a bug! Bailey’s mother, Dani MckennaKline, operates MK Consulting (www.mckennakline.com), a nonprofit consulting firm. Her father, Eric, has managed a custom cabinet workshop in Brea since the age of 19, EBK Woodworking (ebkwood@yahoo.com). She shared with us photos of her family’s dearly missed dog, Wilson, and the many rascals she now puts up with—dogs Stella and Jake, and her brother, Brett. As her journey led her from Fullerton College to CSU Chico and a sociology degree, she volunteered and worked with Yorba Linda/Placentia & Fullerton Family YMCAs, first volunteering at 15, and then being hired at 16 as a preschool sports coach. By 23, she was organizing sports and adventure youth services as Program Director and managing over 700 families & 200 participants across 75 sites. As Fullerton FiberCity’s GigabitNow City Manager, Bailey is now future-proofing Fullerton, the very first FiberCity in America. She does everything—you’ll find her installing routers, doing outreach events, public relations, marketing, customer service, and more—and by all accounts, she loves it! Now that Fullerton FiberCity is in the process of laying fiber on both sides of every street in the city, Bailey will keep the club informed as installation options for internet service as it becomes available. You can also check out gigabitnow.com to get an idea of when construction will be happening in your neck of the woods. You can reach Bailey at bailey@gigabitnow.com, (714) 451-7342, or by spotting her driving her GigabitNow car around town!
