President Zoot Velasco brought today’s meeting to order with our annual Community Investment Awards being the focus of today’s meeting. Joe Lins gave today’s invocation with Christian Esteban leading us in the pledge. Ken Kaisch provided today’s Rotary moment of peace. President Velasco thanked Beverly Berryman and Bailey Kline for greeting and checking everyone in today. Marty Burbank gave his Rotary Minute and presented Dan Ouweleen with a Provident St. Jude photo album, The Pandemic Moment by Moment, commemorating and celebrating all the first-line health care providers and volunteers that helped manage the pandemic relief, including the face shields that Rotary provided the hospital. President Velasco announced that anyone interested in providing a Rotary Minute to please contact Ernie Delfin who is coordinating this program. President Velasco also thanked all those who helped organize and run the Fullerton Faux Festival over the weekend to include Jim Williams, Monica Fernandez, and Christian Esteban. No winner for today’s duck race. Bud Lange was today’s song master and led the group in a couple of choruses of America the Beautiful.

In addition to the Community Investment Award recipients, our guests today included Gevardo Chagolla, guest of Zoot Velasco, Diane Grady, guest of Dan Ouweleen, and Joan Bannock from the Fullerton Observer.

Miko Krisvoy was today’s recognition master, honoring Allyn Lean for his birthday, Bill Mathy’s Rotary Anniversary, and John Phelps, who will be celebrating his wedding anniversary with his wife Kerry.

Theresa Harvey was today’s M.C. for the Community Investment Awards. Our Rotary Club and Foundation were able to give out $34,500 this year, which included a $10,000 matching grant from the Orange County Community Foundation. Carol Ferguson from the O.C. Community Foundation gave a brief introduction stating that their organization has been providing our club matching grants since 2009 totaling $155,000 to date.

Recipients this year receiving cash gifts from the O.C. Community Foundation and the Fullerton Rotary Foundation included as follows: Youth Awards: All the Arts for All the Kids, Assistance League of Fullerton, Boys & Girls Clubs of Fullerton, Crittenton Services for Children and Families, and FLOCK (Fullerton Loves Orange County Kids). Seniors Awards included St. Jude Memorial Foundation and Fullerton Family YMCA.

Recipients receiving cash gifts from the Rotary Club of Fullerton included Youth Awards: Discovery Gardens of Fullerton Emanual Environmental Early Learning Center, FLOCK, Fullerton Indians Football Booster Club, Fullerton Union High School Dance Team, Fullerton Union High School Link Crew, Joya Scholas, Orangethorpe Elementary School, Tara’s Chance, Troy High School, Woodcrest Elementary School. Senior Awards: Olive Community Services, Meals and Wheels. Community Awards: American Veterans, Friends of Fullerton College Foundation, Fullerton Community Band, Fullerton Heritage, O.C. United, Pathways of Hope, and WTLC.

President Velasco then adjourned today’s meeting.
